• Coprinellus
micaceus - Mica Inkcap

Extremely common, found everywhere and anywhere rotting wood is present, and they'll pop up seemingly randomly any point of the year they feel like it - Sun or snow, warm or cold.

• Coprinopsis
atramentaria - Common Inkcap

An impressive mushroom and apparently edible, but become extremely poisonous if eaten and then alcohol is consumed. Apparently one becomes incredibly drunk AND hungover immediately - not my idea of a fun time.

lagopus - Hare's Foot Inkcap

These beautiful and ethereal fungi can pop up from a pile of mulch and be gone within three or four hours, deliquesed away into black ink. Fascinating.

nivea - Snowy Inkcap

A tiny, delicate mushroom that is incredibly easily overlooked. Identified by the snowy, flaky coating it has.

strossmayeri - Rare Inkcap?

Potentially a rare find! And very tentatively identified because of that. C. strossmayeri was first identified in the UK circa 2020, so me finding it is quite a coup. If anyone has any better ideas or can confirm this ID, please get in touch!

• Coprinus
comatus - Shaggy Inkcap

The Shaggy Ink-Cap! Extremely common, extremely interesting, and extremely tasty.
These, along with the Trooping Funnel, are one of the two fungi I have felt comfortable eating, simply because of how unique they are in appearance.
Find another tall, shaggy, white fungus that dissolves into ink - I bet you can't!
If you do forage them, get them young because they vanish into black goop remarkably fast!

disseminatus - Fairy Inkcap

One of my favourite fungi. I think they're beautiful and enchanting - and very photogenic.

• Parasola
plicatilis - Pleated Inkcap

Like an eye staring up at you from the lawn. Like other inkcaps, these vanish away into black ink almost as soon as they appear.
