|So named for the bright-red tips this lichen exhibits, similar to the traditional uniform of the British soldier.

This lichen had throughly colonised the moss adorning a long dry-stone wall in Northern Scotland.
Quite similar to its cousins, but without the tell-tall orange bits found on other Peltigera, and quite a bit more compact that others of this family.
